We are celebrating Human Rights this March month in South Africa. Internationally this movement is generally celebrated in December to pay tribute to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights an international document stating the basic rights and freedom each Human being are entitled to.
When celebrating human rights in the motor industry we would like to take a look at some of the road accident statistics for the roads in South Africa:
- 16 January 2019 – The Sunday Times reported that there were more than 1612 deaths on the South African roads for that past season. ( Read More: https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2019-01-16-sa-roads-are-still-slaughterhouses-report-shows-increase-in-festive-season-road-deaths/ )
- 11 December 2019 – The Daily Maverick reported that the South African road death statistics are appalling, saying: “… road deaths over the last three years have seen an upward trend.
