When you start with your search into getting a Heavy Motor Vehicle learners and driver’s license, you will cross the following codes, Code 10 / Code C1 / Code EC1 in your search repeatedly.
What is the difference between Code C1 and Code EC1 then?
Smiles Driving Academy would explain the difference between these codes as follow: The S.A. legal system makes a split between (rigid vehicles / trucks) Heavy Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles drawing trailers (above 750 kg GVM). A Good example would be that the holder of a code C1 license would be legally allowed to drive a heavy goods vehicle up to 16 000 kg GVM, but needs an EC1 license in order to pull a trailer heavier than 750 kg GVM.
